What is
covered.

Gardening and removals sit together because they are both physical jobs that depend on access, waste and timing. A gardener needs to get into the garden and know what happens to the cuttings. A removals crew needs to know the stairs, the parking and what time the keys arrive.

They also overlap more than you might think. People often book a garden clearance before putting a house on the market, a tidy-up before moving out, or a first proper cut after moving in. Some customers book a man and van to take away garden furniture, an old shed or bags that the council collection will not take.

On AYS Concierge you search by service and postcode and see pros who cover your area. Standard visits, such as a lawn cut or collecting a single item, can have a fixed price shown before you book. Clearances, regular gardening and house moves are usually quoted, because every garden and every move is different. Quotes are free with no obligation.

Before you book

Man and van, full removal or gardener

For a move, the size of the load decides the booking. A man and van is usually one van and one or two people, which suits flats, students, smaller loads and single items. A full family home usually needs a bigger vehicle and crew, and often packing and dismantling. Ask each mover what insurance they carry for goods in transit and whether items you packed yourself are covered.

For the garden, decide between a one-off clearance and regular visits. A clearance gets an overgrown garden back under control. Regular visits keep it there and are often easier to price. Wild birds and active nests are protected by law, so a gardener may advise against heavy hedge cutting in spring and summer.

Both jobs often produce waste. Anyone taking waste away as a business should be registered to carry waste, so it is fair to ask. Look at what each pro shows on their profile. We ask for insurance, and the team checks what pros upload.

FAQs

Outdoors and moving:
your questions.

Something else? Ask us and a person will reply.

Should I book a garden clearance before or after I move?

If you are selling, before is usually better, as a tidy garden photographs well and makes viewings easier. If you are buying, wait until you have the keys and can see what is worth keeping. Either way, book with some notice, as clearances take longer than a regular visit and depend on the weather.

Can a removals pro take garden items and rubbish?

Many can move garden furniture, pots, sheds that have been taken apart and tools. Taking away rubbish or green waste for disposal is a separate job, and the pro should be registered to carry waste. Say exactly what is going in your request, with photos, so the quote covers it.

Do I need to be there on the day?

For a move, yes, or someone you trust, so you can answer questions and check nothing is left behind. For gardening, not always. If the gardener can get in through a side gate and does not need power or water, many customers are out. Tell them about pets, locked gates or plants to avoid.

What if my moving date changes?

Completion dates often move. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the start time, and bookings can be made from 2 hours ahead up to 90 days ahead, so you can book early and adjust. Ask the mover what happens if keys are released late on the day, as waiting time can affect the price.

Do I need a parking permit for the van?

It depends on the street. If there are permit bays, yellow lines or limited parking at either address, you may need a parking suspension or permit from the local council, arranged in advance. Check with the council and tell your mover or gardener where the van can stop and how far it is to the door.
