What is
covered.

Pet services on AYS Concierge are about dogs, and about two different needs. A dog walker gives your dog exercise and company when you cannot, usually in the middle of the day. A dog trainer helps you change how your dog behaves, from puppy basics to pulling on the lead or ignoring you in the park.

Both come to you. A walker collects your dog from home, walks locally and brings them back, often with a message or photo. A trainer works in the place where the problem happens: your hallway when visitors arrive, your street, or the park where recall falls apart.

You search by service and postcode and see pros who cover your area. Standard walks and starter training sessions can have a fixed price shown before you book. If your dog needs something particular, such as solo walks, a reactive dog plan or several dogs from one home, describe it and ask local pros for a free quote.

Before you book

Walker, trainer or both

If your dog is well behaved but bored or alone too long, start with a walker. If your dog is hard to walk, worried around other dogs or ignores you off lead, start with a trainer, then tell your walker what you are practising so they can keep it consistent. Many owners use both.

Be honest about your dog. Tell a walker about recall, chasing, how your dog is with other dogs and anything that scares them. Ask whether new dogs stay on a lead or a long line at first, and whether a group walk or solo walk suits better. There is no national licence for dog walking in England, but some councils limit how many dogs one person can walk in public spaces.

Ask a trainer how they teach and what equipment they use. Many use reward-based methods. If behaviour changes suddenly, see your vet first, as pain can be the cause. We ask pros for insurance and any qualifications, and walkers who hold keys can also show a DBS certificate.

FAQs

Pets:
your questions.

Something else? Ask us and a person will reply.

Do I need a walker, a trainer, or a dog sitter?

A walker exercises your dog while you are out. A trainer teaches you and your dog new habits. Boarding and dog day care are separate, licensed activities in England, and are not part of these services. If your dog struggles on walks, a few training sessions first can make every walk afterwards easier for both of you.

Can a dog walker or trainer work with a puppy?

Yes. Walkers often offer puppy visits for a short play, a toilet break and company. Trainers can start on simple things like name, sit and settling as soon as the puppy comes home. Your vet will advise when your puppy can safely walk in public places after vaccinations, so ask before booking walks out.

What about my keys and my address?

Your address and phone number are only shared with the pro once the booking is confirmed. Keys are agreed at the meet and greet: a spare key, a key safe or a neighbour. If you use a key safe, ask how the walker keeps codes private. You can check what each pro shows on their profile before deciding.

Can I book regular walks and cancel when I am at home?

Yes. Bookings can be made from 2 hours ahead up to 90 days ahead, so you can set up a routine and add extra walks at short notice. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the start time, which gives the walker time to fill the slot or rearrange their group.

What if my dog has bitten or is aggressive?

Say so in your request. It helps the pro decide whether your dog suits their experience, and keeps everyone safe. A group walk is rarely right for a reactive dog. Many trainers work with dogs who growl, snap or lunge, and some cases need a qualified behaviourist working with your vet.
